ALBANY - The Education Foundation of the Albany Community is holding its first annual golf outing to raise funds for Albany Youth Programs.

This golfing event will be the second major fundraiser for the Education Foundation that was established in October of 2007. The goal of the Foundation, as an independent community organization, is to raise $50,000 over the next 5 years to promote excellence in education for the youth of the Albany School District and the entire community.

So far in 2008 the Foundation has raised over $3,500 through the spring raffle and other private donations. The funds raised will be used to build up a perpetual endowment fund from which the interest will be used each year to offer grants for local education and youth programs.

The golf outing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Bass Creek Golf Club in Footville. It will be a best ball, scramble format with a shot gun start at 1 p.m. The cost of $50 per person includes lunch, golf, golf cart and a ticket to the Lions Club Steak Fry in Albany. There will also be a raffle and silent auction held during the golfing. Registration forms are available from the Albany School District Office or call Forrest Ross at 862-3021.

The foundation is looking for businesses who are interested in a hole sponsorship for $50. Auction or other prizes can also be donated by calling the school district office at 862-3225.
