MONROE - Monroe area residents will have a chance on Wednesday to help in the Blackhawk Technical College search for a new president.
The technical college is beginning its presidential selection process by scheduling one of two community forums at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Monroe campus.
A second forum is scheduled at 4 p.m. at the central campus in Janesville.
The forums will give citizens an opportunity to speak to members of the district board regarding what they feel are important traits and characteristics for a new president, said Jackie Pins, spokesperson for the presidential search committee.
Dr. Don Hunter, a presidential search consultant, and some members of the board will be present at the forums.
From information gathered at the forums, as well as board member and staff input, "the board will develop a profile to be used in the recruiting process," Pins said.
The board obtained a professional hiring firm, National Search and Education Consulting of Broadway, N.C., to conduct a national search at a cost of $22,950, with reimbursed expenses not to exceed $2,000.
Pins said the board began to consider its search for a next president in October, when President Eric A. Larson announced his retirement in June.
Larson served 12 years as president of BTC.
Any questions regarding the forums should be directed to Pins at (608) 757-7772.
