BTC plans Career Exploration Days

JANESVILLE - Blackhawk Technical College's Tech Prep division offers World of Career Exploration Days for area high school students in Green and Rock counties. World of Career Exploration events are designed to give high school students the opportunity to explore Career Pathways. Students will visit BTC campuses, experience activities and demonstrations in different program areas and interact with BTC instructors and students.

World of Career Exploration Days will be offered throughout the year. Registration is required. Forms can be found on the BTC Web site at www.blackhawk.edu or by calling Julie Budrow at (608) 757-7729. Programs scheduled for October at Monroe and Janesville include:

• World of Laboratory Technician, Wednesday, Oct. 8, BTC Monroe: Laboratory Technicians provide lab support to environmental, food processing, medical and agriculture industries. They operate laboratory equipment, perform tests and experiments and troubleshoot production problems.

• World of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Thursday, Oct. 16, BTC Central: BTC Central is hosting demonstrations and hands-on activities designed to simulate trauma situations.

• World of Culinary Arts, Tuesday, Oct. 21, BTC Central: Culinary Arts combines food with artistry, science and business skills to prepare students for careers in hospitality and tourism. Work with BTC's chefs to create a tasty treat.

• World of Dental Assistant, Monday, Oct. 27, BTC Central: Dental assistants are responsible for a variety of laboratory, clinical and office duties.
