JANESVILLE - Applications for three three-year terms for appointment to the Blackhawk Technical College Board will be accepted until 4 p.m. Thursday, March 5, according to Russ Podzilni, chairperson of the BTC College Board Appointment Committee, and chairperson of the Rock County Board of Supervisors. The BTC District Board is comprised of two employers; two employees; three additional members; one elected official; and one school district administrator.
The appointments are in the following categories:
one employer member, 3-year term, July 1, 2009-June 30, 2012;
one employee member, 3-year term, July 1, 2009-June 30, 2012;
one school district administrator member, 3-year term, July 1, 2009-June 30, 2012.
Employer and employee candidates must reasonably represent the businesses and industries in the district by being employed within the district. A school district administrator member is defined as the administrative head of a school district. No more than two members of the district board may be officials of the same governmental unit nor may any district board member be a member of the school board that employs the school district administrator member.
Applicants must submit two references supporting their nomination to the BTC board and must attend a meeting of the District Board Appointment Committee to be interviewed. Board members are not paid, except for expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.
The appointment committee is comprised of the chairpersons of the Rock County and Green County Boards of Supervisors. The appointment committee will conduct a public hearing to interview candidates beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in Room N-2 of the Rock County Courthouse, 51 S. Main St., Janesville. Names of candidates submitted by the deadline will be published at least 14 days prior to the hearings. No names will be accepted from the floor at the hearings and meetings.
