BRODHEAD — Brodhead Memorial Public Library, 1207 25th Street, will offer a free screening of “Cheeseheads: The Documentary” at 6 p.m. Sept. 4. There will be a meet and greet cheese tasting with filmmaker John Mitchell at 5:30 p.m.

“Cheeseheads: The Documentary,” by Wisconsin native John Mitchell, hopes to both educate and entertain with a tale of discovering what it means to be a “cheesehead.” The film is the story of a man’s journey to rediscover his Wisconsin roots after 20 years away.

It looks into the deeper meaning of being a “cheesehead,” well beyond the clichéd notion represented in the media, and discovers that Wisconsin is a place like no other, filled with some of the most hardworking, passionate and generous people on earth, who are obsessed with beer, cheese and football, especially when all three involve the Green Bay Packers.

To create the documentary, Mitchell toured Wisconsin for three years, interviewing hundreds of “cheeseheads” from every corner of the state, including Green County.

He shot footage in factories, sports bars, and breweries; tailgated and toured museums; and met with mayors and politicians throughout the state.
