BRODHEAD - The Brodhead FFA Chapter received an $800 Pollinator and Habitat Grant from the Sand County Foundation. Eight schools throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota are part of this grant program geared toward schools increasing pollinator habitats in rural areas.
With these funds, in connection with Taylor Creek Nursery of Brodhead, the Brodhead Agriculture Department was given around 900 native plant seeds.
Agriculture students will learn how to stratify and plant native seeds and transplant plants and learn the different strategies in raising native pollinator species.
The project funded by this grant has already begun and should last until mid-summer.
