Sandy Sweitzer from Lena will bring to life the character of Annie Oakley from “Annie Get Your Gun” in the Mighty Richland Player’s Broadway review play, “The Great White Way.”

ORANGEVILLE — Rehearsals are in full swing for the Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater’s production of “The Great White Way.” The script was written by Kim McIver, and it ties together 15 musical numbers from Broadway shows from 1940 to the present.

The cast and crew are from all over the area, including Mount Carroll, Hanover, Lena, Orangeville and Freeport, Illinois. Broadway songs include such classics as, “You can’t Get a Man with a Gun,” from Annie Get Your Gun, and “Don’t Cry for me Argentina” from Evita. There will be a duet from “Wicked,” and great songs from “Annie and The Secret Garden,” sung by Maddie Whitehead and Rachel Rupnow. Other songs included are from such shows as “Into the Woods,” “Mama Mia,” “Witches of Eastwick,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Les Miserables,” “Oklahoma,” “Kinky Boots,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Chicago,” “Rent” and others.

The costumes and props will be simple, but not much is needed to carry the show with this many songs and characters coming to life on the stage. Audiences will also be delighted with the dessert the theater has planned to serve during intermission, along with their signature hot apple cider.

The show is two hours with the intermission. It opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 with doors opening at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 doors will open at 7 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. show, and Sunday is the matinee at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale. They can be purchased by calling 815-819-1310. For more information on the show and the theater, check out the website at mightyrichlandplayers.org.
