Two area breeders, Marty Andersen, New Glarus, and Double W Angus Ranch, Brodhead, have been recognized nationally by the American Angus Association for having one registered Angus cow included in the Association's 2009 Pathfinder report. The Pathfinder Program identifies superior Angus cows based upon recorded performance traits, including early and regular calving and heavy weaning weights, that are economically important to efficient beef production.
Only 2,284 of the nearly 33,000 American Angus Association members are represented in the 2009 report which lists 10,017 individual cows and 263 Pathfinder sires. The report is published online at www.angus.org, and printed copies are available from the Association.
