MONROE - The Gavin Breadon Memorial Swim Meet and the Blown Glass Art and Silent Auction is set for 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at the Monroe outdoor pool.
Silent auction items include an American Girl doll, YMCA membership youth pass, youth season pass at the Monroe pool, a children's kitchen set and buckets of toys for the children to bid on.
Eoin Breadon will have 10 different blown glass art pieces up for bid, including a lavender vase, red trimmed bowl, lavender vase, orange beehive, blue balloon vase, red jug, purple bottle, tall blue bottle, orange cylinder base and olive green cylinder.
Proceeds for the meet will go toward scholarships for senior night next year.
There were 11 $250 scholarships given to seniors this year who had the same interests as Gavin Breadon, including football, wrestling, coaching swim team or lifeguarding. All seniors must be going on to a two- or four-year school. This year's recipients were Elizabeth Dale, Rachel Root, Shelby Coffey, Sarah Kind, Brian Schneider, Kevin Klopfenstein, Aaron Hesgard, Dustin Burkhalter, Trevor Gorr, Jesse Keizer and Mitch Hasse.
T-shirts will be sold at the swim meet or at the City of Monroe Park and Recreation office for $10 with proceeds going to the scholarship night.
