MONROE - Over the past couple of weeks, Monroe Boy Scout Troop 101 has been collecting items for military care packages to be sent to service personnel overseas.
The boys collected more than 200 items and wrote letters to the soldiers thanking them for their commitment and service to our country.
On Feb. 29, the troop gathered at the armory where they assembled the packages and met with three local soldiers from the Wisconsin Army National Guard. The service men shared their experiences and gave the scouts insight into the work that is being done.
The troop is now gearing up for its annual baked potato/taco dinner and silent auction fundraiser, which will be held April 18 at the Monroe Moose Lodge.
