Blood drive Saturday at Crossroads church

MONROE - There will be a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Crossroads Community Church, 222 Old Argyle Road, Monroe.

Due to the recent tragedies, the Red Cross will be increasing its staff and beds to accommodate all who want to donate.

Double platelets are extremely needed. Those with the following blood types qualify to donate doubles: O-negative, O-positive, A-negative and B-negative. Women must be 5-foot-5 or taller and weigh at least 150 pounds to donate doubles. Men must be 5-foot-1 or taller and weigh at least 135 pounds to donate doubles.

Whole blood, any blood type, is needed by all who can donate. Appointments and walk-ins will be accepted. Call Tina Straws, drive coordinator, at 608-426-2247 with questions.
