Blanchardville farm nominated for awards

BLANCHARDVILLE - Rüegsegger Farms Natural Meats, a south-central Wisconsin farm devoted to providing local, healthy foods that also has a grocery store located in Paoli, has been nominated for two prestigious food awards. Owned and operated by Ken and Sherrie Rüegsegger, the company has been nominated:

• by Slow Food Wisconsin to represent Wisconsin in San Francisco at Slow Food Nation this summer (Grass-fed Beef and Pastured Pork);

• for the Dane County Small Business Award this spring.

Paoli Local Foods has expanded its prepared food selection. The Rüegseggers, themselves are experienced cooks, have recently hired a talented young chef, Daniel Brent-Allegretti, who brings two years of culinary education and local foods experience. Although not a restaurant, Paoli local foods serves prepared foods on a daily basis and is expanding its line of prepared meals for both the family dinner table and for lunches at office locations.
