Blackhawk Tech to host Spring Employment Conference, career fairs

JANESVILLE - Blackhawk Technical College will host the Spring Employment Conference on March 12 that will serve as an introduction to a series of events aimed at helping BTC students and district residents find suitable employment in a variety of fields.

The employment conference, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Commons of the Central Campus, will feature three nationally recognized speakers and workshops aimed at heightening a participant's awareness about a job search.

Jillian Maas Backman and Jan Bilgen will present "First 90 Days: Don't Sink, Swim," which is designed to get participants thinking and planning the steps to face the challenge of their first job. Participants will discuss strategic career planning and how to be valuable to a new organization.

Chris Czarnik will present the "Job Search Reinvented' and "Confessions of a HR Manager' workshops.

Registration for the Spring Employment Conference is now open and attendees may sign up at the Student Success Center at BTC, or call 608-757-6321 to reserve a space. Lunch is included.

On March 15, BTC's Student Success Center will hold a career fair workshop at noon and 4 p.m. The workshop provides an opportunity to enhance resumes and go through a mock interview.

The Student Success Center will then hold five career fairs that are open to the public.

On March 31, employers in the early childhood field will be at the Beloit Center from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

On April 5, recruiters from the manufacturing field will be at BTC's Advanced Manufacturing Training Center between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

On April 6, representatives from the business field will be at the Central Campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Public safety professions will be on display on April 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Campus. Those interested in a job in the health services field should attend the April 8 session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Campus.
