Black Hawk Forensics team finishes 11th at state festival

SOUTH WAYNE - Twelve members of the Black Hawk Forensics team competed at the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association's state festival on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Receiving a perfect gold rating with a score of "25" was Tessa Cushman in Serious Solo Acting.

Receiving silver ratings with a score of "24" were Josh Quinn in Moments in History; Marissa Monson in Special Occasion Speaking; Braytn Meythaler, Jordan Monson, Ryan Quinn and Blaine Wolff in Group Interpretation; and Alyse Metz, Brooke Moore, and Justin Wiegel in Group Interpretation.

Receiving a silver rating with a score of "23" was Chelsie Metz in Farrago, and receiving a bronze rating with a score of "21" was Josh Meier in Moments in History.

On March 23, the team competed at the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association state tournament on the Ripon College campus. Cushman advanced to the semi-final round, making her one of the top 17 serious solo actors out of 54. Black Hawk finished in 11th place overall out of 23 Division III schools.

Black Hawk alumnus Molly Bechtolt and Black Hawk staff members Anthony Petitjean and Rachel Evanoff served as judges for the team.

The Black Hawk Forensics team will close its 2013-14 season with its annual awards banquet in May.
