BRODHEAD — Kids for Wish Kids is a fundraising program that provides schools and youth organizations the opportunity to engage in philanthropy and service activities in partnership with Make-A-Wish. The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s goal is to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness.

A Wish Week is a full week of fundraising events to support a local child’s wish. Brodhead High School Student Council contacted Make-A-Wish Wisconsin to plan a week of events at Brodhead High School. Make-A-Wish connected BHS StuCo with Jack, a 14-year-old from Stoughton who’s living with a respiratory disorder. He enjoys going to state parks, listening to music, going on road trips, watching sunsets, watching movies, dancing and delivering coffee to his teachers. He wishes to go to Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando.

This project taught BHS students communication, goal setting, business skills, team building and the importance of giving. The BHS Student Council raised over $3600 for Jack’s Wish.

The BHS Wish Week events included:

●  BHS Band Concert Miracle Minute Wishing Well pass for donations

●  Girls Basketball Game Bake Sale, Miracle Minute, 50/50 Raffle

●  Boys Basketball Game Bake Sale, Miracle Minute, 50/50 Raffle

All Week Brodhead High School Penny Wars raised money with the freshmen class winning. Their prize was playing Dodgeball against the teachers and watching Mr. Richmond get pied in the face. Special thanks to Mrs. Richmond for coming over from the elementary school to help out with this task.
