PLATTEVILLE - University of Wisconsin-Platteville student Rebecca Johnson, South Wayne, received the Black Hawk High School Community Scholarship through the UWP Foundation. Johnson is currently majoring in education at UWP.
The UWP Community Scholarship Program combines the efforts of the UWP Foundation and alumni throughout the region to provide high school graduates entering UWP with scholarships funded by UWP alumni. The scholarships are made from many donations received through the UWP student Phonathon, held each spring and fall. Scholarships have been established throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota.
"Because of scholarships like this, my college education will be possible," Johnson said. "I am looking forward to my time at UWP, where both my dad and sister graduated."
Johnson graduated from Black Hawk High School in May 2008.
