MONROE - Behring Senior Center has planned several activities and classes for the spring. All activities and programs are for people ages 55 and older. All classes and programs below will be held at the senior center.
The veteran's monthly breakfast will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. March 7 at the center. Breakfast is for all veterans and spouses ages 55 and over. A donation is recommended. The next breakfast will be April 4.
A "Stop Medicare Fraud" seminar and a waffle lunch will be held at noon March 6. Learn how to prevent scam artists from stealing healthcare dollars and how to report Medicare errors. There is a fee.
A quilting class will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27. The instructor will be Tereesa Schroeder. Participants will learn what to do with the leftover materials and learn two quilt patterns. There is a fee.
Dave Ehlert portrays Lincoln in the theatrical production of "Lincoln and the Civil War" at 1:30 p.m. March 13. Learn how the Union President fought against slavery. Call 325-3173 to reserve a seat.
Robin McLeish will hold several iPad classes. The first, iPad Basics, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. March 14. This class is for beginners who want to learn how to use the iPad. An iPad Plus class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. April 6 for those looking to advance a bit in their knowledge. The third class, "Exploring Apple Apps," will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 23. This class is for iPads only and will explore several different apps in the Apple Store that can be used with an iPad. Call 325-3173 to register. There is a fee for each class.
Craig Siemsen will perform "Route 66" at 1:30 p.m. March 20. The program will feature popular songs and stories from the 1930s through the 1960s. Call 325-3173 to reserve a seat.
Speaker Mary Helen Conroy will present "Do I Matter" at 1:30 p.m. March 21. Conroy will share her experiences and thoughts about what it means to grow old. Call 325-3173 to sign up.

Learn all about the health benefits, pros and cons of taking vitamins and minerals in the Vitamins and Minerals class at 10 a.m. March 23. Call 325-3173 to register.
Two sessions of "Oil Painting with Nina" will be held. The first is from 9 a.m. to noon March 26, in which participants will learn to paint a grist mill scene, and the second is from9 a.m. to noon April 9, which will involve painting "the old barn by the tree." Call 325-3173 to reserve a seat. There is a fee for each class.
Dr. Pete Schmitt will present Lunch and Learn, at 11 a.m. March 27, April 10 and May 8. This three-part health series will cover health issues that affect the senior population. The fee includes lunch. The first class is "Sleep Problems," with soup and salad for lunch; the second class is "How to Reduce Stress," with Subway for lunch; and the third class is "Digestive Problems," with a baked potato bar lunch. Call 325-3173 to make a reservation for any or all three sessions.
A Sign Painting Class will be held by The Purple Vessel from 1:30 to 4 p.m. April 2. Participants may choose from two designs and four colors and must make selections and pay the fee before March 23. Design and color choices can be viewed at the reception desk at the senior center.
"Bath in a Bottle" will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 10 and will discuss natural bath and beauty products that can be made at home. There is a fee.
A checkers tournament will be held at 1 p.m. April 16 at the center. Sign up at the desk or call 325-3173 to register. There will be first-, second- and third-place prizes.
