Senior center plans classes and events
MONROE — The Behring Senior Center has numerous activities and classes planned. Arrangements to participate can be made by calling the senior center at 325-3173 or stop at the center reception desk.Participants must pre-register for all programs, including free ones, so staff will know how many will be attending. All classes and activities are for people 55 and older.
Classes
• Watercolor wreaths with Tracy Signer will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 5. No experience or drawing required. All supplies included. There is a fee for this class.
• A wine bottle craft class will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 22. Bring your old wine/champagne bottles to decorate, we will have the embellishments. There is a fee for this class. Limit of 15 people.
Events
• Edward Jones final financial program will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 4. Learn how to be calm, cool and invested.
• Veteran’s monthly breakfast will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5. This is for all Veterans and spouses ages 55 and over. We ask that you don’t arrive before 8 a.m. The next breakfast will be Jan. 9.
• The Dec. Movie, The Man Who Invented Christmas, will be at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 20. This movie will get you in the Christmas spirit. The movie is rated PG and 1 hour 44 minutes.
• A page out of history will be at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 15. Diana Vance will be sharing a video about Concentration Camp Survivor, Magda Herzberger, who lived in Monroe from 1957-1976 with her husband.
• A Patsy Cline Tribute will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19 performed by Karen Wickham. There is a limit of 85 people.
• A series of programs will be presented by Jim Glessner. Each program will start at 1:30 p.m. and feature its own special non-alcoholic drink. There is a cost for each program. Jan. 16 will be The Three Wright Houses, Feb. 20 will be Flowers and Pretty Things. The Glessners and the Chicago Glessner House will be March 20, and George Washington and Fort Necessity will be May 22.
