MONROE - The Monroe Public Library is hosting a "Family Evening at the Library" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the library meeting room. Kris Winkler will be the guest reader, sharing stories about barns and quilts in honor of the Green County Barn Quilts project. No registration is required.
"Quilts have long been a symbol of family and heritage while our historic barns represent the agricultural history of Green County," says Winkler, co-chairman of the Green County Barn Quilt project.
The audience will be invited to take a seat on a comfy quilt while Winkler reads stories about life on the farm and the comfort of quilts. She will also give a brief talk about the Green County Barn Quilts. Following the story time, listeners will be invited to create their own quilt block from paper squares. Photographs by Robert Ault of many of the barn quilts will be on display.
The "Family Evenings at the Library" series provides an opportunity for children and their caring adults to enjoy a program and find books to share together at home. For more information about programs for children and families contact the Monroe Public Library at 328-7010.
