CASSVILLE - Cassville is hosting its 16th annual Bald Eagle Days on Jan. 24-25. Located on the Mississippi River in southwest Grant County, each year hundreds of eagles call the Cassville area their winter home.

Bald Eagle Days offers a unique and entertaining mix of indoor and outdoor activities to learn about the National Bird. Knowledgeable volunteers from the Cassville area will be assisting birders with locating eagles from 8 a.m. to noon on Jan. 24 and 25 at The Wildlife Observation Deck at Cassville's Riverside Park. Educational programs will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Cassville High School, 715 E. Amelia St.

Outdoor viewing is at its best from December through early March. Conditions that help the eagles survive during the winter, such as abundant opportunities to fish open water, secluded and wooded valleys to protect them from the winter's harsh winds and an abundance of wildlife, can be found in the Cassville area.
