MONROE - On Wednesday, July 15, Monroe Clinic and Harbor House Memory Care will host a community presentation, "Living Well with Alzheimer's." Mary Kay Baum, author and national speaker, will share her first-hand experience of maintaining a high quality of life while living with a diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Mary Kay Baum will also discuss ways she is working to enhance the lives of those with early-onset Alzheimer's disease through a national network of similarly situated persons called forMemory. The group's formemory.org Web site works to connect those diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease through a blog support system, national conferences and a database of Alzheimer's patients who have given permission for their information to be used for research and education.

In addition, Mary Kay Baum has recently co-authored a book with her sister, Chris Baum Van Ryzin, titled, "Traveling with Hope: Sharing Our Experiences with Memory Challenges." Early-onset Alzheimer's disease runs in the Baum family with her mother, aunt and sister having the same diagnosis. Mary Kay was a former Lutheran pastor, lawyer, court administrator and school board member in Madison.
