Auditions for Summerset 50 Production of ‘Cinderella’ on March 8 and 15
stage

FREEPORT — As Highland marks 50 years of Summerset Theatre with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Director Randy Haldeman is issuing a royal invitation to actors throughout the land to take part in the magic.

“Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella is a familiar yet timeless tale of dreams, kindness, and self-discovery, and Summerset’s 50th Anniversary production deepens these themes with a modern perspective,” said Haldeman. “Auditions are essential to a successful production, ensuring the right performers are matched to the right roles while setting the tone for a professional and cohesive ensemble.”

Cinderella’s cast will include up to 10 principal roles and 15 ensemble roles of all ages. Strong vocal and dance skills are a plus. Auditions will be held Saturday, March 8 or Saturday, March 15 from 9:30 a.m. - noon or 12:30 - 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre located in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Highland Community College. For a comprehensive audition guide, visit the Summerset page at highland.edu and register for one of the two blocks of times.

Haldeman explained Summerset’s fresh take on this beloved classic reinforces a message that transformation is more than just outward magic; it is rooted in belief, resilience, and the pursuit of what is right — values that reflect Summerset’s legacy of artistic excellence and commitment to the Highland community.

Performances are June 20-21 and 26-28 at 7 p.m., and June 22 and 29 at 3 p.m. on the Fine Arts Theatre stage located in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center, 2998 W. Pearl City, Road., Freeport, Ill.

“I value diverse artistic processes and styles,” said Haldeman. “My goal is to ensure every performer and crew member feels valued in a supportive environment where dedication, discipline, and creative exploration thrive.”
