MONROE - The Green County Sheriff's Department will host an ATV safety classes from June 11 to 12. The course, which will be taught by DNR-certified ATV safety instructors, consists of two days of classes to be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 11 and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12.
To complete the course, students must attend both days and all hours of instruction. Students must be at least 11 to enroll. There is no maximum age, and parents are encouraged to enroll and participate. The course fee is $10, which covers all necessary materials.
Students successfully completing the course will receive an ATV safety graduate certificate. Anyone who is at least 12 and born after Jan. 1, 1988, is required to have a certificate to ride an ATV on any public area (trails, frozen waters, routes, etc.).
Classes will cover ATV safety features, pre-ride inspection, basic riding skills, protective gear, rules and regulations, ethics, responsibility, and handling outdoor emergencies.
