Black Hawk Blood Drive Sept. 16

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk High School will host a Blood Drive from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.

Bike Rally this Saturday

MONTICELLO - Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, will host its second annual Bike Rally fundraiser for InterFaith Hospitality Network Saturday, Sept. 17.

Check-in will be at 10 a.m., with the bike ride departing at 10:30 a.m. The ride will be from Monticello to Albany, followed by lunch and the return trip back to Monticello.

Historical Society to hold meeting

MONTICELLO - The Monticello Area Historical Society will hold a general meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Ave., Monticello.

Guest speaker Tom Vale, Monroe, will speak on the Civil War and how it pertains personally to his family. The meeting is open to the public.

"Showers of Love' luncheon Wed.

MONROE - All women are invited to attend the Stateline Women's Connection "Showers of Love" luncheon, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at PepperCorn Banquets at Ludlow Mansion, 1417 Mansion Dr., Monroe.

The cost is $8 per person, which includes tax, tip and program. Anna Anderson, Executive Director of the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Green County, will speak about the center.

There will also be a baby diaper shower. Attendees may bring diapers in sizes 4, 5 or 6 to donate to the Care Net Pregnancy Center.

Also speaking this month is Kathy Baarman, Holland, Mich. Baarman will speak of her escape from communist Hungary and how she found freedom in America.
