Woman's Club to meet Wednesday

MONROE - Woman's Club will meet at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the Monroe Arts Center's Wesley Hall. Rose Last will be the featured speaker on the topic of Conservation - Stewards of the Environment.

Monroe Woman's Club Community Improvement Project will benefit the Sexual Assault recovery Program with a monetary donation of $500. Prospective members are welcome.

The group's January meeting featured speaker Jeannie Blumer, the W2/Economic Support Supervisor for Green County Human Services. Blumer spoke about the homeless and near homeless in Green County. Also at the meeting, Marcey Sink presented a donation of $500 on behalf of Monroe Woman's Club to Kris Wisneske, co-chair of the Homeless Coalition of Green County. Blankets for the homeless were donated by Adair Najat and Sue Ivanco and presented to Wisneske.

Freeport

ABWA group to meet Thursday

FREEPORT - The Jane Addams Chapter of American Business Women's Association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at O'Maddy's in the lower level of the Hampton Inn, Freeport.

The evening will be the annual presentation of the Chapter's Woman of the Year and Business Associate of the Year. The program for the evening will be presented by Tina Stein, WIFR Channel 23 anchor.

The menu for the evening will be oven-roasted chicken, baked potato, spring salad, beverage and dessert. The cost of the evening is $22 per person and reservations need to be made by Monday, Feb. 5, by calling (815) 235-7329.

Albany

Barn quilts topic of Feb. 15 meeting

ALBANY -The Albany Historical Society will present the program "Barn Quilts of Green County Wisconsin" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Albany museum.

Guest speakers will be Lynn Lokken and Kris Winkler of Monroe. The Green County Barn Quilt Program was launched to promote the area's agricultural heritage to tourists. A series of self-guided trail maps are being developed to direct sight-seers along roads of Green County.

Lokken and Winkler will explain the criteria for eligibility of a barn or farm building, choosing a design, painting, location and installations. Pictures of existing barn quilts will be displayed. A short business meeting at 7 p.m. will precede the program.

Freeport

CONTACT vendor fair is Feb. 12

FREEPORT - CONTACT of Northern Illinois Curbside Coffee will be hosting a mini vendor fair for Valentine's Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12 at Heck's Frozen Meals and Deli, Freeport.

Vendors include Wildtree, Scentsy, Avon, Dove Chocolate, CONTACT's silk scarves and jewelry, and Mary Kay. All visitors can register for a Valentine Dinner for two to be delivered on Valentines Day.
