Physical and 'fiscal' fitness for women

MONROE - The American Cancer Society, Monroe Clinic and Mass Mutual will host a women's event focused on "physical and fiscal" fitness. The free event is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 in Founder's Hall, lower level, Monroe Clinic, 515 22nd Ave.

Light food and drinks will be served at 5:30 p.m., with the program starting at 6 p.m. Presenting at the event will be representatives from the American Cancer Society, Monroe Clinic, and Freitag Financial Services.

Although reservations are not required, those interested are asked to register by calling (877) 865-1462.

Each year MassMutual makes donations to organizations that support breast cancer research. This year, the donation for this event will be made to the Relay for Life of Green County.

Officials to attend Chamber breakfast

MONROE - The second annual City/County Breakfast Update is set for 7:30 to 9 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Heritage Hall. Monroe Mayor Bill Ross and Green County Clerk Mike Doyle will provide updates on pressing issues in local government; and what's in store for the community.

Also, Terry Hensel will speak about Pleasantview Nursing Home.

Monroe Garden Club meeting set

MONROE - Monroe Garden Club, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Behring Senior Center, second floor. The speaker, John Gifhnock, will discuss using native plants in your landscape; and Jane Swenson has the garden project. Election of officers also will be held and contributions to the community discussed.

The Christmas party will be held Dec. 1st at the Moose Lodge. Sign-up will be held at the meeting. A November meeting is not being planned.

Juda feather party planned for Nov. 13

JUDA - The Juda Fire Department will hold a feather party at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13. Featured will be a Texas Hold 'Em tournament. Prizes will be awarded, including a $50 door prize.
