Genealogy meeting set for Saturday
MONROE - Pat Skubis, genealogist, Madison will present a program on various display methods for family trees at the monthly meeting of the Green County Genealogical Society on Saturday, May 7.
She will discuss traditional pedigree and fan charts as will as stitched samplers, photo charts, wall hangings, quilts and other methods.
She will show examples of each and discuss projects anyone can do. Participants can bring a family tree display to discuss with her and share with others.
The society meets in the second floor community room of the Monroe Public library starting at 10 a.m. The program will follow a short business meeting. The meeting is open to the public.

EAA breakfast set for May 15
BRODHEAD - The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 431 will having its annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Sunday, May 15 at the Brodhead Airport, N2443 Airport Road.
Serving will be from 7 a.m. to noon.
The Young Eagles rally will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Nominees sought for Ag Awards
MONROE - Nominations are being accepted for the 2011 Green County Dairy Days Ag Awards. The categories are: Ag Business Woman Under 40, Ag Business Woman Over 40 and Oldest Active Farm couple.
The contest is open to an Ag/Business woman or couple who is an active part of an operation of business with buildings located in the school districts or villages in Green County. Previous winners are not eligible.
Winners will be honored at the Dairy Queen's banquet in Brodhead on Thursday, June 16 and will be recognized again at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 19 before the crowning of the 2011 Green County Dairy Queen and Princess.

Red Cross blood drive is May 11
SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk School in South Wayne will host a Lafayette County Red Cross blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 11.
Each year, nearly 5 million people need blood transfusions, according to blood drive organizers. Blood transfusions are needed for the treatment of many diseases and conditions, and for surgeries. More than 38,000 pints of blood needed for patients at hospitals across the nation each day.
Donors can make an appointment by calling (800) 448-3543. Drop-ins are also welcome. Donors should bring ID to the drive.

Gun Show set for May 21-22 at SLICE
MONROE - The Green County Conservation League is sponsoring a gun show Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 at the SLICE ice arena at 1632 4th Ave. West, Monroe. The show is open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will go toward the preservation of native Green County wildlife habitat and the Green County Conservation League scholarship program.
The cost of admission is $5, but children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
Table reservations can be made for the entire show for $18. To reserve a table, contact Gary Sutherland at 602 E. 2nd Ave., Brodhead, WI 53520.
