Green County 4-H, FFA seeking donations to purchase arena
MONROE - Members of the Green County 4-H/FFA horse project are seeking donations from area business and individuals to purchase an arena for the Green County Fairgrounds.
In previous years, showing of horses was held on the grass infield in the fairgrounds, fenced off by plastic snow fence held up by metal t-posts. Both the grass infield and plastic snow fence are unsafe.
Green County 4-H has improved the show area on the fairgrounds by eliminating the use of the snow fence and borrowing arena panels from Oregon Farm Supply and Rock County 4-H, as well as adding a sand surface.
The group raised $1,500 to purchase their own arena panels. The group has priced an arena for about $4,500, which is for 60 panels for the portable arena. The cost for each individual panel is $72.
Any donation is tax deductible. To donate, make checks payable to Green County 4-H Adult Leaders with "horse arena" in the memo line. Donations can be given to members or mailed to UW-Extension.
More information is available by contacting Rob Ready at (608) 513-7728.
