Softball with MHS team is Friday

MONROE - Girls Softball with the Cheesemakers will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 16 at the Monroe High School Gym, 1600 26th St.

This event, sponsored by the MHS coaches and players, is for girls entering fifth to ninth grade this fall.

The cost is $7 and participants will receive a Campion softball T-shirt sponsored by Brennan's BP. Participants are reminded to bring a glove, with their name on it.

Activities for St. Patrick's slated

MONROE - The Green County Humane Society will host a day of St. Patrick's Day activities on Saturday, March 17.

Turner Hall will be hosting children's games from noon to 3 p.m. Tickets are three for $1. All proceeds will go to GCHS.

Anyone who would like to be in the parade with GCHS is welcome to bring four-legged friends, dressed up in their finest St. Patrick's Day wear, and meet at Suisse Haus at 2:30 p.m. for the 3:17 p.m. parade.

MONROE - There will be a Monroe High School Class of 1967 reunion planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 19 at Suisse Haus, 1602 12th St.

Roth is winner for Juda FFA

JUDA - Darren Roth, Juda, was selected as a winner in the America's Farmers Grow Communities, which gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations.

The donations are available through the Monsanto Fund. Roth designated the Juda FFA to receive the award in Green County.

Scouts pancake event is Saturday

MONROE - Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 180 is serving its annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 17 at the Monroe United Methodist Church, 2227 4th St.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, applesauce, cheese and beverages.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 years and under. Proceeds support activities for the troop, including hiking trips to Philmont Ranch in New Mexico, canoe trips to the Boundary Waters, and experiences at national and world jamborees.

Albany

Play group movie set for March 23

ALBANY - The Albany Community Center is hosting a free play group for children ages 5 and under from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 23 at the center, 400 5th St. It is open to residents in any of the communities surrounding Albany.

There will be crafts, a snack and play time. The theme of the play group is "The Muppets," to help promote the free movie night event that evening. Starting at 6 p.m., an activity will take place, followed by the movie that will start at 7 p.m. Popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for sale.

April 21 is date for kalberwurst

MONTICELLO - The annual kalberwurst supper is set to take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 East Lake Ave.

The supper is open to the public and the cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 10, and free for children 4 and under.

The dinner includes kalberwurst (veal sausage), ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, copper penny carrots, applesauce, Swiss bread, cookies and bars. Carryouts are available; to place a carry-out order, call (608) 938-4369.

There will be a silent basket auction held in conjunction. Baskets of various themes will be displayed beginning in early April with bidding continuing through the kalberwurst dinner.

LENA

Ladies Day Out is set for April 28

LENA - The Ladies Day Outs spring show will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at the Lena Community Center, 497 Lions Drive.

There is no admission fee and men are welcome to attend.

Door prizes and a grand price of $100 will be given away.
