Free transportation offered to and from church services

MONROE - The First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1411 10th St., has arranged for complementary taxi rides to and from church services for anyone who needs transportation.

Sunday services are at 10 a.m. and a mid-week testimony meeting is held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. For more information about services, call 325-9220 and leave a message.



YMCA to hold a meeting Jan. 31

MONROE - The Green County Family YMCA and YMCA Foundation will hold its 37th annual meeting at 7 a.m. Jan. 31 at the Monroe United Methodist Church, 2227 4th St. The meeting will include the annual reports for both the YMCA and the YMCA Foundation. The business meeting will follow the annual meeting.

All interested YMCA members are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Steve Norem, interim executive director of the YMCA, at 325-2003.



Norwegian Bingo set for Thursday

MONROE - Monroe Sons of Norway Ostestaden Lodge will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church community room for dessert and coffee.

The program will follow at 7 p.m. Members and guests will have fun playing Norwegian Bingo, complete with prizes.

This is open to the public and will be a chance to be a big "winner" and to make new friends.



Monticello

Richard Hager to speak at historical society meeting

MONTICELLO - The Monticello Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at Zwingli United Church of Christ. The program will follow a short business meeting.

The speaker will be Richard Hager, a third-generation funeral director. He will speak on the history of the process of funerals and the progression throughout the years and the history of the Shriner firm. This program is open to the public.
