Festival of Trees tickets available

MONROE - The annual Festival of Trees is scheduled for 6 p.m., Dec. 4, at Peppercorn Banquets. In addition to dinner, participants can bid on trees and assorted items to help local charities.

The decorated trees for live auction will be on display in the Monroe Theatre Guild windows and lit on Thursday.

On the menu is mixed greens w/ raspberry vinaigrette and caramelized pecans, prime rib, roasted garlic and rosemary boneless chicken breast, with glazed baby carrots and gourmet mashed potatoes, cheesecake for dessert, and beverages.

Tickets are $40. Buy tickets at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, or from these charities: Green County Humane Society, Green Haven Family Advocates, Habitat for Humanity of Green County, and Monroe Theatre Guild.

Hollandale

Living Nativity slated for Dec. 15

HOLLANDALE - A Living Nativity will be presented at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Richard Taylor's "Happy Barn", 7893 McKenna Road, Hollandale. (Handicapped accessible.) Those attending will witness the re-enactment of the birth of Christ for this year's annual Christmas Barn Service.

Costumed performers and live animals bring the story to life. There will also be a reading of the Christmas story and singing of familiar Christmas carols.

MHS plans blood drive for Tuesday

MONROE - The Monroe High School senate and Key Club will sponsor a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The blood drive will be in the new gym at the high school. It is open to the public.

Staver UMC plans bake sale Nov. 24

MONROE - Staver United Methodist Church will have a bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Nov. 24 at the Woodford State Bank, Monroe.
