Bel Canto concert slated for Dec. 19
MONROE - The Bel Canto Singers will present their annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec.19, at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe. The group is directed by Allen Redford, director of choral music at Highland Community College in Freeport, and the singers are from Monroe and neighboring communities.
The concert will also feature instrumental performances by Patricia Thorngate, harp; Deborah Krauss Smith, organ; Randel Schneeberger, trumpet; and Deb Krattiger, saxophone. A reception will follow the concert.

Community choir sets performances
BROWNTOWN - The Community Choir, sponsored by Browntown Peace Church, will be performing: at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, at Pleasant View Nursing Home; at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, at Angelus; and at 10 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 19, at the church in Browntown.
The performance will be the southern gospel cantata, "The Beautiful Star." The choir is directed by Dr. Steven Hale, Peace Church pastor.

Madrigal dinner is set for weekend
ALBANY - Albany middle and high school students are planning a Madrigal dinner Saturday, Dec. 11 and Sunday, Dec. 12, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Albany.
The event will include a meal along with comedy and drama as the performers spread holiday cheer. Tickets are for sale through the music department. ALBANY - The Albany Music Boosters will hold Cookie-a-thon before and after annual the Winter Concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20.
Cookies may be purchased by the container; there are several sizes available for purchase. There will be large and small coffee cans, plates, or even individual cookies.
