St. John's cookie sale is Saturday

MONROE - St. John's United Church of Christ will host its annual Cookie/Candy sale from 8 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, in the church's Fellowship Hall.

Cookies cost $6 per pound. There will be cookies, candy, gift baskets of goodies, bratzeli and special breads, among other treats. There will be free coffee available while shopping.

Student Council collecting toys

ALBANY - The Albany High Student Council is holding its annual toy drive until Friday, Dec. 10.

For every $5 new toy donation, your name will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 Best Buy Gift Certificate. New unwrapped toys will be collected in the elementary and middle/high school offices.

The toys will be distributed to children of all from ages birth to 18.



Apple River

Food drive is Sunday at church

APPLE RIVER - The third annual food drive, will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the First Presbyterian Church of Apple River, Ill. An evening of singing and celebrating the holiday season will be led by Phillip Brown. The church asks those attending to give donations for the benefit of the Apple River Food Pantry.

Destination Center meeting is Friday

MONROE - There will be a special meeting for the Monroe Cheese Destination Center at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10 in the Wisconsin Community Bank's second-floor conference room.

The agenda includes a presentation by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater students on marketing strategies for the project. All interested persons are invited to attend. More information is available by calling (608) 325-2985.
