DarlingtonTransition meetings set for Aug. 23, 24DARLINGTON - Separate parent and student meetings will be held to provide information regarding transitioning to Darlington High School. Both meetings will be held at the Darlington High School Auditorium.The parent meeting will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, and will cover student homeroom assignments, student schedules, home-school communication, career planning, question and answer, and an optional tour of the building.The student meeting will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, and will cover schedules, locker assignments, general school policies, and an optional tour of the building.Classes at Darlington High School begin Thursday, Sept. 1.MonroeYouth takes part in Youth ProgramMONROE - Maija Liimatainen, Monroe, recently participated in the Youth Programs on the campus of Michigan Technological University.That's where middle school and high school students from across the nation - and around the globe - can choose from more than 70 explorations in business, computing, engineering, humanities and social sciences, outdoor and environmental studies, and science and technology.She took part in the general engineering program. MonroeGolf outing slated for Aug. 26MONROE - The Merit Center Four-Person Scramble Golf Outing will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at Monroe Country Club, 2205 21st St., Monroe, with a start time of 10 a.m.The cost is $65 per golfer, and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, meal and prizes.
