MONROE -The South Central Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association will be holding their annual plant sale Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to Noon.
The event will be held in the Auditorium of the Government Services Building, Pleasant View Complex, N3150 Hwy 81, Monroe.
The plant sale offers the opportunity for area residents to purchase hardy, zone 4 perennials, herbs and annual plants that have been local grown by UW-Extension Master Gardener volunteers. Started vegetable plants, houseplants and other unique plants will be available, as well as several handcrafted garden use items.
Proceeds from the plant sale will be distributed into scholarships for Green County area youths who are enrolled or planning to enroll in secondary education in a horticulture-related field.
Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to help in selecting plants that fit gardening needs.
The volunteers are trained by the UW-Extension agents and specialists to assist with garden and horticulture related questions and provide thousands of hours of volunteer hours to community projects through Green County each year.
For more information on the event or the UW-Extension Master Gardener Program, contact Mark Mayer, UW-Extension Agriculture Agent for Green County, at (608) 328-9440
