MONROE - Green County Humane Society's second annual Pawlapalooza fundraiser will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Monroe Country Club.

Event attendees may participate in both a silent auction and a live auction featuring six life-sized dog and cat sculptures, hand-painted by high school students from around Green County.

The event will feature five different wines and heavy hors d'oeuvres paired and presented by local wine expert Steve Borowski. Brennan's Market and Dave and Mary Flynn will be donating the wine, and Klondike Cheese Company will sponsor the hors d'oeuvres. Appetizers and cheese platters will also be provided courtesy of Colony Brands and local cheese factories.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.

Raffle tickets are $10 and are available at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce or through GCHS board members.

Raffle winners will be drawn the night of the event, but ticket holders are not required to be present to win.

The grand prize is $2,000 cash (sponsored by Sugar River Bank of Monroe, Badger State Ethanol, The Monroe Clinic, and New Glarus Hotel/Chalet Landhaus), first prize is a weekend stay at The Wilderness Waterpark Resort in Wisconsin Dells (up to $500 value, sponsored by SK Plastic Molding, Inc.), and the second and third prizes are $100 gift certificates to Sher-Feeds (sponsored by Sher-Feeds) and Beast Buffet (sponsored by Zwygart Century 21).

Last year the Green County Leaders organized the first Pawlapalooza fundraiser, an evening with wine and hors d'oeuvres at the Monroe Country Club.

The event brought in $19,000 for the shelter, thanks to numerous sponsors from the community and a very popular raffle, silent auction, and live auction at the event and proved to be the Humane Society's largest fundraiser of 2010.
