On Father's Day, June 16, 1946, Willard Meland and Herbert Blaser married Valaria and Luane Christen. They are the daughters of Edwin and Willma Steiner Christen. The weddings took place in the New Glarus Swiss Church, and a wedding reception followed at the home of the brides' parents.

Willard and Valaria have three children, seven grandchildren, eight and one-half great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Herb and Luane have two daughters, two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

A family celebration is being held in Belleville, where both couples reside.
