AMVETS given membership growth awards

NEW GLARUS - AMVETS Post No. 69 received two membership growth awards from AMVETS National. District 7 Commander Peter Jozefowski made the presentation at the District 7 meeting Thursday, Feb. 4, in Beaver Dam.

Commander Frances Beers, Adjutant John Marty, New Glarus, and First Vice-Commander William Kuenzi, Blanchardville, accepted the award on behalf of AMVETS Post No. 69. AMVETS District 7 is comprised of posts from Beaver Dam, Brodhead, Madison, Watertown and New Glarus.

The two awards were for an increase in membership of 105 percent as of March 31, 2009, and an increase of 110 percent as of June 30, 2009. Post No. 69 has added six new members since July and now has 25 annual and 16 life members. Members live in Albany, Belleville, Black Earth, Blanchardville, Janesville, Milton, Monroe, Monticello, New Glarus, Oregon and one from out of state.

Visitors are welcome to the meetings which are held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month beginning in March in the Chalet Landhaus meeting room, New Glarus.
