American Legion's flag retirement ceremony set for 6 p.m. Wednesday

MONROE - The Monroe American Legion will have a flag retirement ceremony at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion Post Home to dispose of unserviceable flags.

The official ceremony of the American Legion is the approved method of disposing of United States flags that have become worn, torn, faded or badly soiled.

Citizens are encouraged to replace worn and torn flags with new ones. Flags that need to be retired can be brought the American Legion disposal box at the front of the building before Wednesday or at any time throughout the year.

The ceremony is open to the public.
