All-night teen ski trip planned for February

LENA - On Feb. 19 the Lena Community Park District in cooperation with the Freeport Park District will be taking interested teens to the Illinois Park and Recreation Association's 2010 Teen Ski and Snowboard Overnight at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena. This is the first year that both the Freeport and Lena park districts will be participating in this event.

At 9 p.m., Chestnut Mountain closes to the public and the 140-acres overlooking the Mississippi River will available until 5 a.m. Feb. 20 only to participants who have registered for this program. Chestnut Mountain's terrain is geared for all levels of skiers and boarders. It has a 475-foot vertical drop that spans for 3,500 feet through 19 different runs, ranging from novice to black diamond. This chaperoned trip is only for teenagers ages 11-19. Enjoy the slopes, entertainment, game room and a campfire. Ski/Snowboarding lessons will be available.

The bus will be leaving Freeport at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 and will make a stop in Lena at 7 p.m.

Cost for the ski trip is as follows:

Lift ticket only will be $70 for park district residents and $80 for non-residents.

Lift ticket and lesson will be $90 for park district residents and $103 for non residents.

Lift ticket, lesson and ski rental will be $105 for park district residents and $120 for non residents.

Lift ticket, lesson and snowboard rental will be $105 for park district residents and $120 for non residents.
