ALBANY - The fifth- and sixth-grade students at Albany Community Middle School would like to invite the public to a charity event on Nov. 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Students learned about issues affecting areas of Africa. Specifically, they are learning about the history of the continent including some of the environmental issues that are causing problems. Students are working in small groups to research the countries of Africa and some of their environmental concerns. At the same time, the students planned a charity event to help areas of Africa struggling with some of the issues studied.
Information about the countries will be on display. There will also be items sold at a silent auction the night of the event. In addition, the students will have other activities that evening in order to raise additional funds. All money will be divided between a local charity and specific charities helping those in Africa.
