Albany students earn awards, scholarships

ALBANY - On May 25, Albany High School held its "Class Night" awards and scholarship program in the high school gymnasium. Scholarships and awards were presented to the "Class of 2011," and also to other high school students.

Scholarship award winners were: Alecia Bauman, Hillary Best, Sydney Bump, Megan Farley, Ingrid Kallgren, Joshua Krueger, Drew Mather, Hayli Peach, Joshua Peters, Courtney Pfeuti, and Kaitlyn Schulz.

Because of support and efforts of many individuals, families and organizations, approximately $40,000 was awarded to students to help meet their college expenses. Local scholarships and sponsors included Family of Florence Trow Scholarship ($7,800), Lions Club Scholarships ($5,000), Norwegian Church Settlement Museum Scholarship ($1,500), Family of Helen Graves ($2,500), Albany Community Foundation ($2400) Albany Alumni Association ($3,000), Albany Women's League ($1,500), Albany Masonic Lodge #36 ($1,000); Family of Clifford and Dorothy Reasa ($6,500), Albany FFA Alumni ($1,000), Green Co. Chapter of UW Alumni ($750), Alliant Energy Scholarship ($1,000), Arty Award Anonymous Donor ($1,000), UW Rock Co. ($500), Todd & Brenda Brewer Family ($500), Family of Margaret Holtsapple ($500), Family of Debra Schultz ($500), Family of Charlotte Dixon ($500), Albany Fire Department ($500), Albany Sports Boosters ($600), B/A Bobcat Youth Football ($300), Albany Jr. Comet Basketball League ($250), and Red Cross Blood Drive ($500).
