Albany schools holding Child Find screening

ALBANY - The Albany Child Find is being held from 1 to 6 p.m. March 6 and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 7. It is for all families who reside in the Albany school district and who have a child under 5 not yet attending school.

The screening gives a present level of development and a chance to learn about typical growth of children. It also offers a free vision and hearing screening along with answers to health-related questions and possible interventions for optimal success.

During the screening, children participate in a play-based assessment while interacting with school staff. Staff observe such things as communication, early-learning skills, coordination and social skills. After the screening, families get a chance to meet with those involved to discuss findings. It takes approximately an hour.

To sign up for Child Find, call the school at 608-862-3225 to schedule a time. When making an appointment, be ready to provide the parents' names, child's name, date of birth and a phone number.
