Albany Historical Society presentation on Muralt Prairie

Wisconsin's prairies (grasslands)are beginning to show beautiful with early blooming pale purple coneflowers.

ALBANY — The April 15 Albany Historical Society meeting will feature a slide presentation by John Ochsner describing the first efforts in April 1975 at conducting prescribed burn management at the 64 acre Muralt Prairie in Mt. Pleasant Township.

The Muralt Prairie is the largest prairie remnant in Green County.  

The presentation will describe the issues encountered by local volunteers as they reintroduced fire to this small fire-dependent plant community.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Albany Historical Society museum at 119 N. Water Street, Albany, WI  53502.  A brief business meeting will proceed the program. There is no charge for admittance.
