ALBANY - The Albany Historical Society's November general meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Albany Historical Museum, 119 N. Water St., Albany.
After a short business meeting, the program will be a showing of "Alone in the Wilderness," a story taking place in Alaska, where Richard Proenneke found a place, cut trees and built a log cabin. Proenneke was a self-sufficient craftsman, making what was needed from available materials. The video is provided by Wisconsin Public Television. The event is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
The society has also scheduled its annual Christmas dinner for Dec. 8 at the Albany Lions Club. Albany Lutheran Ladies will be preparing the pork roast meal, which is open to members and guests. Reservations should be made by Dec. 1 by calling Dorothy Schlapbach at 608-862-3573. The cost is available on request, and payment in advance is appreciated. Reservations also will be taken at the Nov. 15 general meeting.
