ADRC offers online diabetes workshop

MONROE — The ADRC Green County Office is offering a high-evidence based, self-management workshop called Healthy Living with Diabetes (HLWD). 

This is for those with Type I or Type II diabetes, prediabetes, or live with someone who has Type I diabetes, Type II diabetes or prediabetes. The next upcoming Healthy Living with Diabetes is starting on Tuesday, July 23. Classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon and will be held virtually, via Zoom. 

Pre-registration is necessary. No living-in county or state requirements. Call the ADRC Green County Office at 608-328-9499 to sign up.

There will be a Zoom practice session on July 16 if needed. The class will run on Tuesdays until Sept. 3, with no class Aug. 6.  There is no charge for the workshop, however donations are welcomed to help cover cost of postage and class materials.

In just 2 ½ hours a week for six weeks, learn how to can take control of diabetes. That’s only approximately 15 hours to learn tools that will help to better manage and/or further prevent diabetes.

Practically everyone knows of someone who has diabetes, whether that be a spouse, children, friends, family, or even themselves. Having diabetes is serious and is a big change to people’s lives — some almost feel it controls their life. 

Healthy Living with Diabetes was developed and researched at Stanford University of Wisconsin to improve confidence and reduce hospitalizations, doctor visits and emergency department visits for people with diabetes.
