Adkins Energy LLC scholarship available

LENA — Adkins Energy LLC is proud to offer its annual scholarship. The application is available on the Adkins website: www.adkinsenergy.com. Application deadline is April 5.

Adkins Energy LLC will award three $500 scholarships to qualifying students. Anyone pursuing higher education at a trade school, college or university in 2021 may apply. Entries will be judged on previous academic achievement, current financial impact and an essay.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

●  Complete and application, including the most recent transcript of grades, with class ranking, if available.

●  Submit a typed essay, no longer than three pages double-spaced, on the following: Here at Adkins, we produce both ethanol and biodiesel from the same kernel of corn. In addition to producing fuel, we also make co-products such as Distillers Dried Grains and Soluble (DDGS), Wet Distillers Grain with Soluble (WDGS), and Distillers Corn Oil (DCO). What are the benefits of ethanol co-products such as DDGS, WDGS and DCO to agriculture and ethanol plants like Adkins Energy?

●  Submit a description of how this scholarship will affect the applicant’s educational goals or special financial circumstances.

Submissions must be postmarked by April 2, 2021. The winning recipient will be awarded the $1,500 scholarship after providing proof of enrollment.

Adkins Energy is a dry mill corn-to-ethanol and biodiesel facility located in northwest Illinois. It is owned by over 275 local investors and Pearl City Elevator, and employs 40 people. Since it started production in 2002, Adkins has processed over 240 million bushels of corn to produce over 650 million gallons of ethanol and over 3.1 million tons of wet and dried distiller’s grains. Since 2015, Adkins Energy is currently operating a 2 million gallon per year biodiesel facility that is fully integrated into its ethanol operations.
