EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team brought home the Wisconsin Forensics State Championship for the 17th year in a row. The tournament was held Feb. 20-21 in Menomonie.
Senior Eric Plantenberg, Monroe, placed first in oratory, first in dramatic interpretation, second in individual sweepstakes, second in duo interpretation with senior Justin Rudnick of Stanley, and third in informative speaking at the tournament.
Plantenberg will represent Wisconsin for the second time at the Interstate Oratory Contest in April at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. Each state is allowed two representatives in this prestigious contest. To become a Wisconsin representative at IOC, a contestant must place first or second in oratory at the state competition.
