LEXINGTON, Ky. - Merik Meythaler, South Wayne, was recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in science.
The honor recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students.
Meythaler, who attends Black Hawk High School, was nominated for the honor by Beth Marcure, a teacher at Black Hawk High School.
Those who qualify for the All American Scholar at Large can apply for one of the U.S.A.A. educational cash grants, up to $10,000.
Meythaler is the son of Barry and Deb Meythaler, South Wayne. Grandparents are Mike and Linda Meythaler, South Wayne, and the late Merlin and Opal Ommodt, South Wayne.
