MONROE - Green County 4-H is in the process of enrolling new and returning members.

The program is sponsored by Green County and the University of Wisconsin Extension System. All families with youth in grades three to 13 can join an area 4-H community club; and those in kindergarten through second grade can participate in the Cloverbud/Exploring Program.

Green County 4-H, running from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, is a family oriented program that provides learning-by-doing programs and opportunities that help youth develop as community leaders.

Though most associate 4-H with agricultural life, roughly 40 percent of Green County's members live in Monroe or one of its surrounding towns. In fact, there are 17 area 4-H clubs, with about 600 involved in local clubs, which meet monthly.

The Green County UW-Extension Office is located at the Green County Government Services Building in Monroe. There are many projects and activities to choose from, which are led by adult volunteers. Youth can focus on animal sciences, communication arts, cultural arts and health sciences.
